Mark Mothersbaugh

1970s-1980s

  • Guitars: Fender Telecaster (w/ at least an EHX Frequency Analyzer duct-taped to it; sometimes up to three pedals)

2010s

Mark's guitar is a left-handed 4-string '80s Squier Stratocaster with a Boss DS-1 and a Frogg Ring Modulator velcroed to it; the 2 low strings are tuned in unison to A and the 2 high strings are untuned.

Mark's synth setup during the 2010s has usually included at least a Minimoog and a Minimoog Voyager, and usually a Korg microKORG on top. During the 2014 Hardcore Devo tour, the two Minis obscured his primary synths, and he also seemed to be using an iPad or tablet or some kind. He usually runs the two Minis through an effects chain of Whirlwind A/B > Dunlop Crybaby > Boss DS-1 > Boss DD-20 > Whirlwind DI.
